Haydens Bakery, part of the Real Good Food Company, has been fined £40,000 for safety failings, after one of its worker was injured by a bowl mixer. The Swindon Magistrates court was told that the worker caught his wedding ring on an unguarded attachment of the rotating shaft on a powered bowl mixer. The man suffered injuries to his ring finger at the bakery’s premises. An investigation by Health and Safety Executive (HSE) revealed that company had modified the machine by adding a security clip to rotating shaft. But it had failed to identify and assess the risk associated with this modification.

A spokeswoman from the firm confirms that they pleaded guilty to a breach of PUWER regulation in Devizes in March 2015 and has been fined £40,000. Haydens regrets the injury caused and supported the employee during his absence from work and recovery period.
